Long Overdue Library District Update!

23 November 2012,   By ,

It’s been quite some time since we last visited Library District . We mean, it’s not like we’re avoiding it, we’ve just been…you know, busy with other stuff. We’ve been meaning to call though, we promise.

But that’s all in the past now and we’re ready to focus here, on you, Library District. You’re the only star in this post.

Since we Last saw Library District, the progress has been phenomenal. Workers are 9 floors up, with the 10th floor to begin pouring next week.

From the ground up, and even without it’s exterior dressings, the building looks amazing.

If we’re not mistaken, none of this stuff was here when we were here last. Well done, construction crew!

Hang on a second, is that…?

WINDOWS?! Yep, the windows have been moved into place and are ready for install next week.  That’s pretty big news!

This is the view from a second floor unit, the pillars to the left are the amenitis building, while the construction in the center of the image is no other then Toronto’s 100th library underway simultaneously!

Here’s a look inside one of the units, minus the doors and drywall and framing. Quite a nice little space if we do say so.

Another shot of the amenities building.

This is the crane starting to slowly inch it’s way up as needed,  the picture above is the base of it on the third floor.

Hold on a second, is that a cannon pointed at us?

Everyone hit the deck! I ..what, you’re telling me  it’s not in commission? We guess we should have known that . Oh well, in that case – resume your regularly scheduled blog reading.

Even from the third floor, looking down the elevator shaft can induce vertigo.

Hello Fort York! funny seeing you here…

More shots of the workers on the Library portion getting ready to build the next floor of the library.

And Finally, Happy Movember!

Next update will come much quicker, as once the windows are in, framing and plumbing/electrical work can begin.

Library District is connected to the City of Toronto’s 100th public library, and is steps away from the national historic site of Fort York.
