Hey folks, we’re fresh from a visit to Library District and thought we would be nice and give you a little update as to what has been going on at the site this month. Windows are installed up to the 8th floor, units are getting drywalled on the second and third floors, and we’ve begun pouring the 20th floor this week!
follow past the jump for more pictures and updates.
The lobby is having it’s designer glass installed almost all the way around the building. Many parts of the lobby are now shielded from the harsh Toronto elements.
Glass installers on the scissor lifts are carefully placing the panes of glass into place.
Here they are securing the glass to the structure.
There’s a very good chance this will be one of the last times we can look out on to the Bathurst st. bridge before the amenities building and Toronto’s 100th public library are finished off.
Now we’re onto the good part, Units! on the second floor, drywalling and insulation are beginning to be installed, and the units are looking a bit more complete. To give you a bit of an exposition, when we visited the site a month ago, Framing had just started on these floors.
We’re going to go out on a limb and guess that this is the kitchen. You wouldn’t want to end up with the stove in the bathroom right? Or would you…
Plumbing is installed up until the 7th floor.
It’s spitting hot FIYAH. Well actually, these furnaces are keeping the workers warm since the heating isn’t exactly operational yet.
We’d make a “knockin’ boots here” joke, but we’re classier then that.
As if the fact that it’s glass isn’t obvious enough, it still needs to be clarified — Glass is fragile.
Here we are, time for the photos of the view. Currently, we’re up on the 18th floor, the 20th is getting poured so we couldn’t get up to the 19th. But wow, what a view facing south.
Looking over to the east, there’s a very clear view of the CN tower and the Roger’s centre, which should be seeing some action in the not too distant future!
Looking west, we get another view of our favourite neighbour, Fort York. It’s strange to think that at one point in time, this was the tallest point geographically in Toronto.
Hope no one reading this suffers from vertigo, because this is a shot down looking onto the amenities building from the 18th.
Just before we left, we took a quick pic of the 4th floor to show that the units have been framed off and insulation is being installed in the hallways.
Like a proud parent, they grow up so fast don’t they?
Library District is connected to the City of Toronto’s 100th public library, and is steps away from the national historic site of Fort York.
