At this point, the leaves are mostly off the trees and cool weather is here for the foreseeable future. While it’s a bit of a bummer to say goodbye to another gorgeous Toronto summer, the promise of these upcoming excuses to get out and enjoy the city are getting us through. The Royal Winter Fair
November 6 – 15 2015
Since 1922, The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair has become the largest indoor agricultural event in the world! It’s easy to forget, living in Toronto, just how much of our beautiful country is farmland, but the Royal is a great reminder to experience this part of our Canadian heritage. It attracts almost 340,000 visitors annually from Canada and around the world, which is pretty incredible! Check out hundreds of vendors, delicious food options, dog shows, horse shows, and more – it’s a little bit of everything, so there’s something for everyone.

Take a break from your early holiday shopping (yeah, right) and check out this immersive event at Yonge-Dundas Square. At 6, the Square’s tree will be lit up in a breathtaking show, immediately followed by a 360-degree live theatre experience with dancers, performers, live music, an LED light show and tons more – and it’s all free!
The Santa Claus Parade
November 15 2015
This one always sneaks up on us as it takes place halfway through November, but it’s the best way to kick off the holiday season and we wouldn’t miss it! Started in 1905, this Toronto tradition kicks off at Christie and Bloor and makes its way throughout downtown, accompanied by about a dozen marching bands, thousands of costumed participants and tons of fun.
The Toronto Christmas Market
November 20 to December 20
The Distillery District is pretty magical all year round, but it definitely comes alive during the holiday season. Shop hundreds of unique gifts, see carollers, stop in at Mill St. for a giant pretzel, and tons of other festive goodness, all in an easily walkable few blocks radius. Of all the holiday events that go down during the winter, this one is the most unique to Toronto – and definitely the most magical.
Seasonal Theatre
Toronto’s live performance scene is huge, from basement theatres to huge productions at the Sony Centre, there’s something for everyone. The holidays are a great time to check out fall and winter revues at Toronto’s best known spots. Whether you like the classic tradition of the Nutcracker or you’re more of a Second City person, make sure you check out a seasonal show before they’re gone for good.
