In light of uh, recent events, our fair city has been the ire of many people worldwide. While it may seem like low hanging fruit to mock the current situation, we’re going to go in a different direction. We’d like to introduce you to our newest series: Toronto the Good. We’ll be taking a look at those making a difference in the community; it’s kind of like having Toronto’s very own superheroes.

This week, we sat down with Adil Dhalla from the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) to talk about what they do, their love for Toronto and some cool projects they’re working on.

Let’s take it away!

What better way to welcome Spring than with 300 pieces of stunning art from Toronto’s established and up and coming independent artists?

This is definitely not your ordinary art show. The Walnut Studios Spring Fever Art Show and Sale will give you a chance to experience art in the “raw” by viewing original works of art in the artist’s creative space.

You’ll get to see the paint filled palettes, the preliminary sketches, the dusty work benches, and the splashes of colour on the floor!  You’ll also get to meet the artists themselves, hear their stories and discuss the creative process.

The festivities begin at noon with an open house followed by a reception at 7pm to 11pm with a cash bar and live Dj’s spinning tunes throughout the night.

On display will be an eclectic and diverse blend of art including painting, fashion, jewellery, photography, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, film and more.

To top it all off, you’ll able to purchase and walk away with the original works of art for yourself and your digs.

So if spending a day with Toronto’s local and independent talent in a beautifully renovated vintage building in the heart of the King West sounds like your thing, then mark your calendar for May 12th!

What do a condo developer and a chocolate maker have in common? At first glance, not very much. But on a recent visit to SOMA chocolate at King and Spadina, we discovered that we both share a love and appreciation for King West and its history and heritage.
